We always welcome new voices to add to our happy harmonious collective. You don’t need to audition, and you don’t need to be able to read music. Just get in touch and arrange to attend one of our rehearsals .
September 2021 - Rehearsal Covid Protocol updated 1st September
Summary
Participants must be double vaccinated (unless medically exempt) and must complete and pass a Lateral Flow Test on the day of rehearsal. Windows and doors will be open throughout. There will be an extended break to allow for additional ventilation. Masks are strongly encouraged at all times apart from singing, when singers may choose not to wear them.
Detail
Note: as of July 2021, there are no official rules or guidelines which apply. Choirs are free to meet exactly how and when they wish. As such, it is entirely down to individual groups to form their own approach, which is what we have done for Man choir, as follows.
It is not possible to remove risk completely, and by taking part you acknowledge and accept this to be the case and agree not to hold the leader of or any participants in MAN CHOIR liable for any illness or related consequences arising.
1) Rehearsals will be primarily indoors, with all doors and windows as wide open as possible throughout every rehearsal until further notice. We say 'primarily' because at FMH we are fortunate to have some covered outside space immediately joining the rehearsal room - so some singers can choose to be out there, if they prefer. These outdoor spaces will be available on a first come first served basis. Naturally, those people who are outside may not be able to hear as well as those inside; but the option is there, at least.
2) We have decided that in order to attend rehearsals from 2nd Sept, to allow us all to have rehearsals that are as safe and enjoyable as possible, all participating singers must:
a: Have had two Covid vaccinations, or have a valid medical exemption from Covid vaccination.
b: Have a lateral flow test every Thursday, at some stage during the day before rehearsal, and receive a negative test result. (We do understand that LFTs are not perfect.)
We know that not everyone out there in the world agrees with making vaccination mandatory for activities; there is a civil liberties concern. If you have unease about this, then we are genuinely sorry; it has not been an easy decision, but it is our decision, and it is what we hope is the safest decision for our group of friends.
3) We will run 'normal' hours, but have an extended break in the middle of 20 - 30 minutes when we won't sing. People can remain in the room at this time.
4) When singing, masks will be optional for all participants. At other times - tea break, arriving and leaving, etc., masks are strongly encouraged. (This part is likely to be subject to regular review.)
5) We will be spaced approx 1m apart, in approx two rows, in a semi circle.
6) Participants will be free to move around as and when they wish.
